RPG Status Report August 1998 USS Miramar The floor is cold when a young Miramar officer wakes up and discovers that she is on a ship which is heavily damaged and there are no life readings. On her way to the bridge the officer sees small groups of shining light balls comming towards her, very slowly. At this moment she realises that the ship is aparently in the hands of aliens, not necessarily hostile. Not taking any chances the officer goes to the bridge, locks herself up and tries to gain access to the ship's systems. USS Mississipi The USS Mississipi receives a distress call from the USS Miramar. The Miramar seems to be hit by an energy wave. The same kind of energy wave is comming towards the Mississippi. The CO decides to go to red alert and The Mississippi is going to maximum speed to try to pass the wave. At the same time a probe is launched to study the energy wave. Planet Fiolon, Research station: 246-B A science team is investigating whether the planet Fiolon is suitable to be used as base for more research on local plant life. Sensors detect some strange energy waves. One of those waves is on it's way to Fiolon. Science officer LT Marja Hendriks advices the station commander to call head quarters for a ship to evacuate, but only at the last moment. Maybe, they could save the station one way or the other. Her advice will be determined as the commander relies on her judgement. Starbase 2 In the bar of Starbase 2 some officers talk about the latest rumours. Ensign Nadine Matz is challenged by her friends to search the files on the USS Miramar, a missing ship. Ensign Matz doesn't want to be called a coward and goes for it. She has no problem to access a terminal in the overcrowded computer room and use the security codes from a technician to download the Miramar files on a portable terminal. On Starbase 2 there is a secret meeting where General Fujimori more or less orders LT Crow to plan a secret battleplan to go and retake the USS Miramar on unknown aliens. With Sgt Maj Hawk, Sgt Java, Cpls Bell and Bell, LT crow will attempt to dock with a runabout attached to the torpedotubes of the Miramar and enter the ship on his way to search for survivors. His orders are very simple. If Crow's team encounters any hostile activity the team will open fire, if necessary blow up the ship. Planet: Arma II, Border Outpost: 16-A Planet Arma II has a perfect shielding from intruders, with a natural caused energy field. Every nine hours there is a window in the energy field, which lasts for six minutes. A satelite in orbit gathers information and communications from Head Quarters and then relays all the data to Outpost 16-A on the planet's surface. That evening there is no data send through the window in the energy field. No communications, no weather information, nothing. Is this a secret plot ? Could this be the beginning of a war ? There is only one way to find out: one officer has to leave the planet and fly through the energy field, which is a dangerous flight. Although he is not ordered Chief of Security Geert, will pilot the shuttle through the field. RPG Status Report September 1998 Planet: Arma II, Border Outpost: 16-A A shuttle has been prepared for maximum performance. All secondairy systems have been taken off line to give the shuttle maximum power to protect it from the energy field surrounding the planet. The window in the Arma's energy field will open in eight and a half hour. When the window opens there will be a second shuttle launched through the window to acompany you or to assist when there are serious problems. But at this moment Chief of Security Geert will be alone and cut off from the planet for at least the time before the window opens. It is a rough and dangerous flight and just when the only thought Geert has left is "a few more seconds could have done it", the shuttle clears the energy field. After a few orbits around the planet the only conclusion is that the satelite is nowhere to be found. It could have malfunctioned and dropped into the energy field. But it also could have been destroyed by an enemy. At this time Chief of Security Geert receives a distress call from the USS Miramar. He decides to leave a information and message buoy. He replies on the distress call and is on his way in a damaged shuttle to the USS Miramar's last coordinates. Repairs will be done on the way. Secret Mission Marine Intervention Team: Operation Freewave T Minus 1 hour. LT Crow's plan has been approved and he is getting his team together for the last instructions. Also assigned to Crow's team is a pilot, not a marine. Crow doesn't really trust this officer, ensign Harry Jones, but Crow doesn't have any choice. Packed up and ready to rock and roll, the team of LT Crow is on it's way to the last known position of the USS Miramar. During the flight Crow notices some strange behavior of the pilot, Ensign Jones. The pilot doesn't seem fit and as time passes, the health of ensign Jones seem to be getting worse. At the moment the runabout starts to shake and make unexpected moves, Crow goes into the cockpit area to help out. Ensign Jones has disapeared. Not taking any risks Crow orders his team to search the ship for Jones, without result. A few minutes before the marine intervention team arrives at the designated coordinates, suddenly ensign Jones appears out of nowhere and tries to convince Crow and his team to go back and abort the mission. As he fears that Ensign Jones could get violent to try to stop the mission, Crow locks him up. USS Mississippi The speed of the USS Mississippi is increasing and is above recommended limits, but there is no choice. The bridge crew of the Mississippi watch the wave comming towards their ship at incredible speed. Then the CO gives the order execute the maneuver to make the ship pass by the wave. It is a rough ride. But the CO is an experienced officer who knows more than a few tricks and at the moment sickbay reports the first light casulties, the Mississippi is clear from the wave, which is now behind the ship. As the damage reports are comming in from all decks, the results of the probe also come in. Just at this point in time all contact with the USS Mississippi with Head Quarters is completely lost. USS Miramar The young ensign Christine, who has locked herself up on the USS Miramar Bridge, has already fired once on the alien light, which approaches her. The second time she fires it is a full hit and the light disapears. A rescue mission is on its way, but will they make it ? Planet Fiolon, Research station: 246-B As LT Hendriks studies the configuration of the energy wave, she discovers that there is a pattern in the wave which looks very familiar. Searching the biological databank, she finds a similar pattern. It is the pattern of a very primitive microscopic life form which only lives on the insignificant planet Baldhom in the Dacan system. No other life has been discovered on Baldhom. This microscopic life form spread all over Baldhom was so agressive that it killed two away teams which were send to the Baldhom to investigate the possibilities to colonise Baldhom. That was years ago and you remember that the colonisation of Baldhom was canceled. But you are on the planet Fiolon, which is hundreds of lightyears from Baldhom. LT Hendriks advices the station commander to call head quarters for a ship to evacuate if necessary and in the mean time she will try to contact the aliens. Starbase 2 Ensign Nadine Matz decides not to share the Miramar files with anyone as the risk of someone betraying her is to big. There are only two files which she gains access to: File 76398.09 (Miramar distress call), File 76400.78 (Operation Freewave) While Ensign Matz is reading the files in her quarters, two officers sound her door alert and present themselves as LT.CMDR. Carl Quinn, chief of security of the USS Miramar and CMDR. Harry Trenchman, XO of the same ship. Ensign Matz doesn't really trust these officers and does not open the door. The officers tell her to come to to bay 14 later to meet with them. Ensign Matz doesn't tell any one and goes to bay 14, heavily armed. RPG Status Report October 1998 Secret Mission Marine Intervention Team: Operation Freewave LT Crow and his team will try to get to the bridge of the USS Miramar and start looking for the missing person. The marine lieutenant doesn't think the alien life forms would want to kill them, because they could have killed them already. As a good marine he would report this to general Fujimori, telling him about the encounter and that they, if it's possible, would try to communicate with these life forms. LT Crow refuses to leave the missing person behind. That is something the marines don't do. At times like these he wished he was at home. USS Miramar As Christine examines further she notices that a small ship is used to dock onto one of the Miramar's torpedo tubes. It seems that this is a rescue party. Most of the Miramar systems are still down and at the moment one of the men of the rescue party is hit by an alien light, there is nothing Christine can do. It seems that the aliens are now concentrating on the rescue party and not on her any longer. A warning beep on the navigational console calls the officer's attention and she imediately sees that her troubles could be worse than she has expected. The battle cruiser Batlh appears out of nowhere at the port bow. General Tchok in command of the Batlh advises Christine to save herself and leave her fellow officers in a battle of glory with the aliens. General Tchok gives Christine only has five seconds to make the decision, but she is determined to stay on the Miramar and get as much systems on line to assist the other group of humans on the ship. Starbase 2 Before she goes to bay 14 to meet LT.CMDR. Carl Quinn and CMDR. Harry Trenchman Nadine Matz arms herself. She doesn't trust these officers and this rendez-vous is very suspicious. On her way tho transporter bay 14, she sees one of the officers who works with her, Jack London. He looks at her in a strange way, but he does not ask any questions. Matz makes sure Jack doesn't follow her. In one of the lifts Matz hears a commander talking to her assistant about the captain of the USS Miramar, who has sent out a distress call and it seems that the Miramar is nowhere in the neighbourhood of Starbase 2. Then, Matz is standing in bay 14, face to face with two officers. As she takes a look around in the bay, in a fast glance she sees an officer on the floor behind one of the consoles. This officer is not very well hidden. Ensign Matz doesn't take any chances and points her weapon towards LT.CMDR. Quinn and CMDR. Trenchman and asks what they want from her. Planet Fiolon, Research station: 246-B Commander Joak Pok has called for a senior staff meeting in which he explains the current situation. An unknown, but possible aggressive wave of an alien life form is comming at high speed towards planet Fiolon. Head Quarters has confirmed that the USS Baltimore is on her way for an evacuation of Fiolon and will arive before the wave reaches the planet. While LT Hendriks studies the comming wave, her scanner produces an alert, places a forcefield around one of the plants in her lab and the readouts of the scanner confirm that the plant has been changing for a few minutes. After an analysis she sees that the cellulair structure of the plant is changing in the same structure as the alien wave that approaches planet Fiolon. After consulting the station commander, both of the officers decide that it is best to take the contalinated plant with them to the USS Baltimore, carefully isolated. This alien energy form might turn up anywhere in the galaxy and it should be studied well. This plant can be the start of a breakthrough. Shuttle Falcon Shuttle Falcon proceeds slowly to the coordinates where the USS Miramar should be. Repairs of the shuttle are going surprisingly well and after a few hours the Falcon has full propulsion. With full speed ahead things look a little bit more promising. Then LT Geert gets another distress call. This time from the USS Mississippi, but the Falcon stays on course to the USS Miramar. Close to the border of friendly space there is suddenly a ship appearing from the other side. Instinctively Geert sends out a distress call. RPG Status Report November 1998 Secret Mission Marine Intervention Team: Operation Freewave LT Crow, Personal Log, Date coded 4618H54: I would do anything to get as much information as possible. It seems to me that the red alien are in charge and that the yellow one's are the soldiers. Blowing up the ship is the last thing I would do. Although much of the ship's systems are heavily damaged, I would try to get them working again. If it is possible at a later stage, we would enter the ship again and see what we can do. The ensign in question has no choice in the matter, whether or not she decides to stay. The general ordered me to rescue the human and that is what I will do. I will take her along back to my ship. If she doesn't want to I will make her. If necessary I will stun her and take her along. Once back aboard my ship, I will contact the general and tell him that I will go back on the USS Miramar to search for my sergeant. I will also tell him that we will try to restore the ship's systems completely and will bring the ship back in. I have to come up with a plan to neutralize the alien. Since they are energy aliens, we will try to capture them in a containment field which absorbs their energy. If that doesn't work we will see. I know one thing. I will not leave until I know what has happened to SGT Java. We have made it back to our ship and I wait to hear from the general. I hope he will considder my plan. If not, I don't know what I am going to do. USS Miramar LT Crow and his team enter the bridge of the USS Miramar. LT Crow doesn't leave Christine any choice. She has to come with the marines. Only a few minutes later the group is on Crow's ship, safe except for one, Sgt Java.Crow also explains that the original pilot of the Runabout, Ensign Jones, who acted very strangely and that Jones was locked up. When Christine is in her quarters she is visited by ensign Jones, who somehow is free. Jones says that Crow and his team are traitors and that Christine should kill them. When Jones has left, Christine decides that Ensign Jones's information warrants further investigation. After the ensign leaves, she turns to the computer console and taps in a code known to but a handful of engineers in the fleet. She just wants confirmation of the identities and mission for Crow and his team and as well as Jones. After reviewing the ships logs, part of the crew looks legit. But how to tell which ones don't belong ? While tapped into the computer records takes some extra effort, surreptitiously accessing the internal medical sensors proves to be an easy task. The results are surprising. Steichen turns from the console deep in thought....things are not as they seem. Starbase 2 Just at the moment CMDR. Trenchman starts talking, Jack London storms in and asks what is going on. Jack explains to Ensign Matz that these two officers cannot be from the USS Miramar as the Miramar is not even near Starbase 2. The two impostors realise that they cannot fool you any longer. Their bodies start to change and a full second later they have changed in two balls of light. Both Matz and London fire at the lights. They are destroyed. USS Baltimore Commander Joak Pok and LT Hendriks are the last ones aboard the USS Baltimore, escaping from the planet surface. Big is the surprise of Captain Jesse Tenor and lieutenant commander Karin Lodder when they see that LT Hendriks carries a container in which a forcefield isolates a plant or at least something that used to look like a plant and is now more a colorfull mixture of light. Commander Pok can convince captain Tenor that this is one of the few, maybe even the only oportunity to study this alien. The captain agreesand the container is handed over to two security officers who will see to it that the USS Baltimore science division will receive it. LT Hendriks offers her help in the research of the alien. Shuttle Falcon A ship, called Mok, that is not allowed to be in this region of the Galaxy under command of Commander Marok hesitates to fire on Geert's shuttle. Something the commander seems to be expected to do. This makes this entire situation even more strange. Although Geert tries to communicate with commander Marok, the only thing that Marok wants is that Geert surrenders. Geert oponant's ship has not even powered up weapons. The young security officer seems to be in control of the situation. Strange as he is outgunned and outnumbered. RPG Status Report December 1998 USS Miramar LT Crow would like to use only his team to enter the USS Miramar and clean the ship. It takes to much time to get other persons in their right places. Crow's team knows what each of them will do in a combat situation and Crow will not bring other lifes in danger because they don't know how to react. The USS Milon arrives to take in the saved Ensign Christine. Crow delivers Ensign Jones to the USS Milon security. Ensign Christine is lead a way to her quarters just as Ensign Jones changes into one of those alien lights. Before the light can do much damage it is destroyed by the Milon security. But LT Crow is angry. If the Personnel aboard the USS Milon know how to destroy the aliens, why is it, that Crow didn't know about it. It could have saved Sergeant Java's life. That is what Crow likes to know, before he goes back to the Miramar, because one death is more than enough. He would ask the General for some explanations, but he didn't think about that in time so he is back on the USS Miramar. The two corporals have their orders to try and get the last systems back on line. Crow and the sergeant major start for the search. They haven't come across an alien yet, but Crow feels like they are watching them. They haven't found anyone yet, but the corporals have succeeded in restoring the last systems. Now it is time to contact the General and ask for further orders. Starbase 2 Ensign Matz and Jack London are in the office of commander Harry Breat, who listens very carefully when you explain what has happened. To Matz surprise the commander believes her incredible story. Even more, he calls a Starfleet Marine general by the name of Fujimori. The general explains to you that the Federation is in danger and that several teams of volunteers have been send out to search and study the aliens. Ensign Jack London and Ensign Matz volunteer to join the group of volunteers to search for the aliens. USS Baltimore After a final and decisive meeting of the Baltimore science staff, with the captain, Jesse Tenor sets a course to the planet Baldhom, where a similar life form exsist as LT Hendriks has already discovered. There they have to find the answers they have been looking for. There is only a small problem. The journey will take to long to keep the alien under control and captain Tenor has no other choice but to destroy the it. When the USS Baltimore is in orbit of the planet Baldhom an away team is assembled. As LT Hendriks seems to be some kind of expert in this life form you are invited to go with the away team to the surface of the planet. She knows this will be a dangerous trip as earlier away teams from other ships never returned and were missing or killed. Shuttle Falcon Marok disengages the tractor beam. Than he makes a confession. The crew of the Mok is dead. He will be considered a traitor by his own people as he cannot explain why his crew is dead. He cannot go back. At home investigators will never believe that the Mok has been hit by an energy wave. Geert docks his shuttle in the shuttlebay of the Mok and decides to help Marok to find what is happening. USS Milon As the USS Milon arrives to bring Ensign Christine is safety, LT Crow hands over Ensign Jones to the Milon security officers, but just before Jones is lead away to the brick, he starts to change into a light everyone already knows about. The light starts flying around and hits one of the security officers leaving her heavily burned. The other security officers has already taken his weapon and destroyes the light. The incident is over and the Milon crew acts as if nothing had happened. Ensign Christine will be tranfered to Starbase 2, where she will receive new orders. USS Ostend Seaside After waiting 24 hours there is still no sign of the USS Miramar and the LT is getting worried. Just as he thinks about sending out a message to contact the Miramar, sensors detect the same kind of energy wave as the day before, but this time it is much closer. Not a real threat, but after the energy wave dissapears, the crew of the USS Ostend Seaside realise that the next energy wave could be right on top of them. They contact Starbase 2 for further orders.
